Marijuana and Money

San Francisco, CA (AP)— A state legislator is reviving the debate about legalizing marijuana as a way of raising money for cash-strapped state and local governments.

It is amazing how fast morals change when money is evolved; the ban on marijuana itself is illegal and placing good citizens in jail for the crime of growing and possession is cruel and unusual punishment. The cost of marijuana is already exorbitant because of the dangers involved in growing the plant against the wishes of the government, but the cost will get even higher if a $50 tax per ounce is applied. The same government which has been trying to eradicate the plant and the people who use it is now willing to make it legal as long as they get their cut—no thanks.

The Torah counts cannabis as one the eleven spices burned to God in the Temple, noting the plant’s good fragrance; the Cabala adds that fragrance is the highest of our senses connected to the third eye—the place of knowing.
