THE CABALA OF FOOTBALL

NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead at his home; Seau chose to shoot himself in the chest, as have several NFL players who recently killed themselves in a similar fashion; new studies appear to connect football-related concussions to suicidal behavior.

Although suicide is forbidden in the Torah, there are heroic instances like the community in Masada, Israel 2000 years ago when the people preferred to death to being captured and enslaved by the Roman army. People die to be free because freedom is more important than life.

Football, in a strange way, exemplifies freedom – commentators always describe a player as getting free; perhaps our fascination with the game stems from a deep rooted desire within each person to be free – to be able to take the hit and keep running, never stop or give up.

The Talmud-Book of Law tells a story about a laundryman who heard a voice from heaven saying, Whoever goes to the funeral of Rebbe Yehuda (who was the first to commit the Oral Torah into writing) gets Olam Haba/The Next World – the ultimate reward for living a good life.

The man got involved in his laundry and forgot to go; he was so despondent, he threw himself from the roof and died – another voice from heaven said, He also gets Olam Haba. When hearing of a person’s death it is the custom to say, Barauch Dian HaEmet/God is the True Judge.

THE CABALA OF SUPER BOWL

With legacies on the line in Indianapolis, it's fitting that two teams with so much history, both this season and in the Super Bowl, face each other in the culmination of the 2011-12 season and playoffs.

Why certain games excel becoming world-wide phenomenons is due to their construction and related spiritual laws found in the symmetry of creation. For example, there are 11 players on each team; 11 is the number of Keter/Crown – formed from Pleasure and Will being victorious.

Together, the number 22 relates to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet divided male and female into groups of 11; each 11 is composed of ten specific letters and one general letter – in the same way a team has ten players led by the quarter back who calls the plays.

The Cabala describes how the ten segments of the body built in three triangles culminating in speech is led by the soul who calls the shots; nonetheless, if the body does not perform properly, the soul’s position is compromised, often leading to the sacking of the soul.

This culminating event in football coincides with a world-wide culmination due to the ending of the 5000 year-old Mayan calendar and the culmination of the Hebrew calendar achieving the sum 5772 related to the essence of the human being. And then there is the Super Bowl.

THE CABALA OF TWO BROTHERS

The Super Bowl almost had the first-ever Super Bowl matchup between two brothers as head coaches; had one or two plays gone differently for the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, a Harbaugh would have been on both sidelines for the NFL's title game.

Two brothers live on each side of the continent, each becomes head coach in the NFL with similar styles and teams; each brother almost reaches the pinnacle of his aspiration, but then each brother fails in similar circumstance. What is the meaning of this happenstance?

The Cabala teaches, Siblings have the greatest love because of the equality they share. There was great interest in the football world to see these two brothers face off, but each lost just before the final game – the Super Bowl. Why would God disappoint so many fans?

Two brothers once live on each side of a mountain separated by a valley; one brother had riches and awoke in the middle of the night desiring to bring his wealth to his brother who had many children. At the same time the other brother awoke, with the same desire.

When the two brothers met in the valley between, realizing their mutual intention, they kissed; God said, I want to make my Temple there – Jerusalem, portal into heaven. Perhaps, this is sign from heaven, Love loses in our world where brother battles brother.

THE CABALA OF TEBOW

After several weeks of awful performances, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow delivered what his fans are calling the latest miracle of his young NFL career.

When Tim Tebow first went into the huddle in the first game he played with the Denver Boncos he said to his teammates, "Just believe in me," and miracles began to happen before the whole world and the miracles are continuing. The power of Emuna/Faith is great.

The Cabala explains, The source of faith is rooted in the word Emun/Craftsman because the strength of faith comes from repetitive behavior; one becomes a craftsman by repeating the same motion over and over again – wax on wax off. Faith requires unwavering devotion.

Tebow has faith in 316, the number of yards he passed for in yesterday's thriller; 316 is also the passage that he is known to quote claiming that Jesus is god's only son and whoever believes in him shall not parish – but, faith works even if the belief is errant.

The Torah teaches, If a prophet comes, even if he does miracles, but what he teaches is false, then he is a false prophet. In the day, false prophets were killed, but now they are just idolized. Nonetheless, sure makes for interesting football; I favor the opposition.

New Orleans Redeemed

New Orleans the city which five years ago was destroyed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina now after a 42 year wait has been crowned winner of Super Bowl 44.

It is interesting that the word Katrina in Hebrew is made from the word Keter/Crown. Five years ago the crown fell from the head of the Roman Empire that Bush administered as a result of Katrina. Five is the number of Gevorah/Severity and certainly these five years have been very difficult for the city of New Orleans.

The number forty two is connected to the strength of Mars to whom Rome prays; I with Strength is the name of a prayer consisting of 42 words said quietly as not to awaken too much power in Mars.

It states in the Torah God brings you up to bring you down when speaking to the wicked, but God brings you down in order to bring you up when addressing the righteous–who could be more righteous than saints.

For those who play the game of life with God included, whether pleasant or painful, at least we know that God is in the game–the rest of the people are spectators living life vicariously through others.

It is this miracle in life watching the underdog be victorious which gives hope to all of us.

No Kissing, Please

Indianapolis are favored to win Super Bowl XLIV against New Orleans in Florida on today.

Football has replaced baseball as the number one sport in America–a sport which has a lot of hidden innuendoes in this man only sport. The constant references to Rome through the use of Roman numerals is only the beginning of a game pitching men against men.

The jargon used to describe the game is also telling: getting penetration, stick it to them, doing what you need to do, revving up the pressure, banging in, stripping and the terms go on. If one did not know they might think this was a Roman orgy.

The eleven players are also telling. Eleven in Cabala corresponds to chaos also known as will–whose will is stronger. Backs are a big part of the game, along with the wide outs and tight ends, but most telling is the goose hike where the quarterback presses his hand against the center’s anus to indicate time to hike the ball.

According to laws of the Torah sodomy is prohibited to the Jewish people and perhaps that is why there are no Jewish football players in the NFL. But this is a man’s game so even with all the ass slapping, there is no kissing in football.

World Champions

Archie Manning, revered in New Orleans for his 11 seasons as quarterback of the Saints and his years of commitment to the city, says he can't root against his son in the upcoming Super Bowl game.

In the first book of the Five Books of Moshe, the foundational work of the Torah relates many stories of different forms of human relationships. The first is man and woman, then parents and children and after that man and wife.

Four Triumphs

MINNEAPOLIS: Minnesota Vikings quarterback number four Brett Favre threw four touchdowns in his fortieth year as a quarterback.

The number four is as predominant in the spirit world as it is in our world made of four elements in four directions sporting four different types of life: inanimate, growing, moving and speaking. These physical manifestations depicted in fours is related to the four spirit worlds that defuse and attenuate the Light of God until it can enter into our physical world.

Forty is also a significant number being there were forty days and nights of flood, forty years wandering in the Wilderness, forty years it takes to understand the words of your teacher. The letter Mem/40 looks like a block and is the only letter which is not spelled out using other letters, the source of the confine to infinity–forty forever.

Four is predominant in creation because God’s Name is written with four letters–YHVH; these four letters can be rearranged to read the three tenses indicating a presence beyond time and space. These same four letter when written vertically make the stick image of a human being.

Purple, the color of the Minnesota Vikings uniforms, is the combination of all color in the same way the YHVH is the source of all creation. Go Vikings!

Sporting God

The Florida Gators super-star quarterback Tim Tebow ended Sugar Bowl 2010 on a biblical note with decals beneath his eyes referring to the New Testament claiming God to be a man.

Quarterbacks are touted to be the smartest members on the team, but football in general is not a sport exemplifying intelligence–though there are personal exceptions. The more physical the sport the less intelligence it takes to play and football is very physical.

Religion like football is very physical though it tries to pretend otherwise, like coaches praying for their team, but everything they teach is about the physical to the point where religion has convinced people that God is physical–the culminating thought to the verse quoted.

Football like religion relies upon blind faith–putting one’s head down, looking only at the ground, pushing ahead against any opposition. Religion calls blind effort dogma assuring all believers according to the quote quoted by the football player that God, Creator of Heaven and Earth is a man–just plain ignorant.

A good advice for the football players is to become vegetarians as it says in the Talmud–Book of Law ignorant people should not eat meat. The Cabala explains how the source of life emanates from the deepest light called Atik Yomim/Ancient Days where there is no opposition–only unity.

Brett Favre Returns

No matter what jersey he's wearing, whether he hears cheers or jeers, No. 4 is still No. 1 at Lambeau Field. Brett Favre returned to Green Bay as the opponent. He threw four touchdown passes in Minnesota's 38-26 victory.

At the age of forty returning to his home town after 18 years in the NFL with arguable the best running back in the league Adrian Peterson number 28 threw four touchdowns. These numbers beg for a cabalistic interpretation.

The number forty is based on ten times four since four is the basis of creation coming from God’s Four Letter Name YHVH combined with the Ten Sefirot the cabalistic atom upon which all creation is predicated. The number 28 when written in Hebrew makes the word Choach/Strength–a good number for a running back. The number forty also has deeper implications being that the flood was 40 days and nights, Moshe on the mountain was 40 days and nights and the people in the Wilderness were there for 40 years–pregnancy begins according to the Talmud-Book of Law 40 days after conception.

There is a spiritual story in this man being played out in front of the world week by week to the fascination of all fans. It is known in the Torah/Teaching that if one wants to know what to do learn the law, but if one wants the truth, watch the story.

Super Bowl

Will Sunday be Kurt Warner’s last game? “In the back of your mind, this could be a perfect scenario to leave the game,” he said, adding, “I’m going to step back and I’m going to pray about it and God’s going to show me if he wants me to continue in this game, if he’s got more for me to accomplish or some other calling.”
