The Commandment

Seattle City Council approved an ordinance that allows police to give tickets to aggressive beggars.

They should try giving them food and shelter maybe the beggars would not be so aggressive. Of all the 613 Commandments only charity is called HaMitzvah/The Commandment. The Torah teaches that one should thank the poor because without them we could not do The Mitzvah. The poor pay with what they inevitably say, God bless you.

God introduced poverty and sickness into the world because God is crowned with the beauty of prayers and without trouble and difficulty who would pray? It is why Jewish Law maintains one should pray on an empty stomach because beautiful prayers come out of the difficulty of poverty and sickness.

The Cabalistic reason why prayers are beautiful is because each one is different; Tiferit/Beauty is composed of multiple colors. Each prayer is like a distinct color in the ethereal light which crowns the Creator–King of the World.

There is no shame in asking for what we need, not from God and not from man. Institutionalized charities have robbed the people from helping directly and turned The Commandment into a business. Charity is called The Commandment because it includes all commandments–in the end we are all just a begging bowl before God.
