Rachel Corrie was the name of the young woman from Seattle who tried to stand up against an Israeli bulldozer losing her life–pointless as this ongoing conflict. The name Rachel is famous in the Torah for being one of the four wives who produced the 12 Tribes of Yisroel/Israel.
Rachel is buried just outside of Bethlehem where it says she cries for the Jewish People living in exile–even in Israel the Jewish People are in exile. Since the beginning of the Jewish nation politics has been her downfall. Politics caused the people to wander 40 years in the wilderness and it was politics that caused the earth to open and swallow the camp of Korek–a family amongst the holiest of the tribes.
Politics is the art of posturing, a thing embellished by Rome then exported throughout the world; politics is the science of the lie. Dovid who built Jerusalem was beloved by God because he was not a politician–Dovid means Beloved.
The Cabala explains how Rachel represents true speech and proper action; Rachel means Lamb and it also means Soft. The softness has gone out of the world, the lamb has nowhere to pasture and Rachel cries.
