Lag B'Omer

Two thousand years ago Rabbi Shimon ben Y’Choi author of the Zohar-Book of Secret passed away commanding his followers to celebrate this day since he was returning to the place from where his soul was hewn. The Zohar, the knowledge he transmitted to the earth a 1000 years later is unquestionably the highest knowledge known to the Jewish People.

Five hundred years ago the Cabala came along as key to the Zohar by explaining in intricate detail the workings of creation from the first moment of movement through myriad worlds culminating in the form of the human being upon planet earth. The celebration which still occurs throughout the world brings together all strata of Jewish People who sing and dance around fire throughout the night.

It is a sign that revelation of the essence will bring peace.

The New Moon

The Jewish year revolves around the moon and tonight is the first night of the second month a very prestigious time--the day when the First and Second Temple’s construction began; it is also when the Jewish People entered into the wilderness.

The Twelves months of the Jewish calendar correspond to the Twelve Tribes of the Jewish People--this month is the tribe of Yiscicar symbolized by the ox. This northern tribe was known for their ability to sit and study--their were renown for their understanding of the transits of the stars and the regulating of time.

This time, today has an added importance since the holiday of the new moon coincides with the counting of the Omer whose number is 17 gematria Tov/Good--known as Tiferit Sheba Tiferit/Beauty of Beauty when all things are good.
