Three Weeks Begin

For more than 3,000 years this day has been known to the Jewish People who at the time lived in a cloud that showered bread from the heavens, they drank water that continually spurted from a rock and then turned against God by building the Golden Calf. When after 40 days Moshe descended from the mountain called Sinai with the two cubes of the Ten Commandments seeing the idolatry he threw the cubes to the earth and they broke. This day is called the 17th of Tamuz

The two cubes were the marriage contract between God and the Jewish People; by breaking the cubes Moshe annulled the marriage before the people could receive the cubes of marriage and thus become adulterous. Eventually a second marriage agreement was given and a new set of cubes fashioned; 1500 years later the Roman army breaks down the walls surrounding Yerusalim on the 17th of Tamuz on their way to destroy the Temple which had stood for 420 years–as recorded in the Talmud-Book of Law in the tractate called Gittin/Divorce.

Today is a fast day, no water no food, because of the destruction, yet it is known by the cabalists that only the exterior was destroyed, but not the essence.
