An estimated million young pilgrims braved searing heat followed by blustery rains Saturday to take part in a prayer vigil with Pope Benedict XVI, massing at a dusty airport field as the Catholic Church's youth festival neared its climax.
Rain can be a blessing or a curse; the blessing, as taught in the Cabala (Kabbalah) is, water makes everything grow, but too much water and everything floods. Since rain is unpredictable, fluctuating wildly around the globe, throughout the world we pray for rain.
In Jewish Law, the Mikva, a ritual cleansing through being immersed in forty measurements of rainwater, takes away the Tuma/Impurity. The drops of rain form because of severity; a gathering of rain water is unity and kindness. Rain is a combination of severity and kindness.
These last two popes have both been associated with the Nazi Party; the previous pope grew up the perimeter of Auschwitz during the Second World War – he was 18 in 1940 – the present pope was famously photographed wearing a Nazi uniform. What does this mean to the world?
Rain can be a sign of destruction as it was in the beginning of the Noah's Flood or a blessing to the parched places of the world. The judgment Day for the Catholic Church is quickly approaching; signs from heaven will become rampant – the innocent will be vindicated.
