TUBA AV

The middle of the Hebrew month of Av, known as Tuba Av, is a hidden holiday signified by the full moon and is not being celebrated anywhere.

The Talmud-Book of Law says, The holiday of Tuba Av is the greatest holiday of all, and yet there is no celebration? One of the joyous events that happened on this day, 2000 years ago, during the time of the Temple in Jerusalem, was a holiday for the young women.

The young women of Jerusalem would gather together and exchange clothing, so those of less means would not be embarrassed; then, they would take to the streets, calling out to the young men their virtues of beauty, background and education. Marriages would ensue.

The Cabala (Kabbalah) is the most feminine of all the different levels of the Torah: Mikra/Written Text, Talmud/Law, Midrash/Story and Zohar/Secret. The Cabala/Receive is present throughout, hidden beneath the form of the letter and the whisper of the sound.

Tuba Av, the most feminine of the holidays, is without any outside form of celebration because woman, like the full moon, can receive and hold the light – what we see from earth is only a reflection. Also on Tuba Av the sun reaching his zenith – love is brewing.
