Woodstock Turns Forty

A dairy farm in upstate New York was the centre of celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. In 1969, more than 300,000 people came to the farm to take part in three days of peace and love.

It says in the Talmud-Book of Law that one does not understand the words of their teacher until forty years, leading us to ask, what does Woodstock mean after forty years. Many of us, including Bob Dylan thought it was a rip off and did not attend–and it was a rip off, but who cares; the one thing that was for sure, it marked the end of an era.

The Hebrew and Roman calendar have in common the last digit meaning both calendar line up in decades with a forty year difference–the Hebrew calendar is just ending the sixties. Sixty in Hebrew is denoted by the Somach/60 which is described by a circle and was ascribed in the Oral Tradition as being the letter which denoted miracle since it hung suspended in the ether of the Ten Commandments which had been engraved by the Finger of God into a cube of Sapphire.

None of us in that time thought we would live to see thirty–it was a miracle the world survived; this last decade–the sixties in the Hebrew calendar, beginning with the presidency of Bush and Dick was equally scary, but thank God we survived.
