One of the signs of servitude from ancient Egypt as recorded in the Torah was to continually move the workforce to separate the people from the land.
Money in modern day Hebrew is Chesef/Silver; the Cabala connects Chesef to Chesofta/Unbridled Desire which when directed towards God reflects the light back, called Ore Chazor/Returning Light. A mirror is covered by a thin layer of silver, if the silver is too thick the light is absorbed instead of reflected.
