Money like pornography is the lowest common denominator–a manufactured exterior expression that has nothing to do with essence. Money might sparkle and gleam but its true worth is only in its metal. It was Nixon who took us off the gold standard replacing it with a promissory note from the government.
Money like pornography is used for quick transactions and whenever there a transaction there is always peripheral spinoffs that stimulates the economy; when the economy is sluggish the money managers encourage transactions and when a relationship is sluggish people turn to pornography. Money and sexual exploitation are the two sides to coin of our country.
In the Torah people and land are considered valuable; they were the currency and each had a regulated worth in silver allowing people to be sold–it was called slavery. In the Talmud-Book of Law are outlined many laws concerning the proper treatment and obligation of the master to the slave which include taking care of his family and giving him work suited to him.
The Cabala considers money, Kesef/Silver related to the word Kesofta/Unbridled Desire; society needs to be tempered with laws and prohibitions so desire can be spontaneous and free.
