MOTHER EARTH

The world population is expected to breach seven billion this year, which is more than twice the number of people living on the earth just 50 years ago, according to recent projections by the United Nations.

In Pslams, Dovid the first king of Israel 3000 years ago writes, The mother of children is happy. The Earth is happy providing for her children, but the allocation of wealth has brought poverty to the majority of the world; the study correlates poverty to population.

It is natural to the human being while living under the specter of famine and political instability to have large families insuring the next generation; with the accumulation of wealth population moderates. Through the distribution of wealth peace ensues.

The commandment in the Torah, Pru Ovu/Mate And Multiply is fulfilled by having a girl and a boy – for God's sake two is enough. If the world admitted that food, shelter and health care are rights of the human being, then overpopulation would not be so problematic.

If there is overpopulation in the world, it is too many rich people devouring too much of the world's resources. Rich people are not happier people, but they do live longer. Longevity is not the purpose of life; a meaningful life is much more important.
