HOURS TO DIE

A defense attorney says Georgia prison officials have blocked inmate Troy Davis from taking a polygraph test before his scheduled execution in a few hours.

The Talmud, Midrash and Zohar were composed 2000 years ago when, on the Temple Mount directly opposite the eastern entrance to the Temple, sat the Great Sanhedrin – the Jewish Court. If the courts put to death one person in 70 years the courts were considered murderers.

The obligation of the court was to find ways, loopholes in the law, to exonerate the defendant; incarceration as a deterrent is not a Jewish way. The courts relied on the nature of divine justice to exact the proper punishment. There were cities affixed for murderers.

One of the signs of our exile in Rome is the rampant executions for the purpose of closure and deterrent – no compassion, even when there are faulty witnesses and no evidence. A human being is about to be sacrificed to the system; human sacrifice is abhorrent in the Torah.

The slow grinding mechanism of American justice, called Law is about to put to death a man convicted by a flawed system – the thumbprint of every American is on the switch. All souls go to heaven where, at the end of life, true justice is administered and reward received.
