Prof Stephen Hawking who turns 70 today was diagnosed with a form of ASL when he was 22 and was not expected to live for more than a few years; he went on to become one of the world's most renowned physicists, he has also been married twice and has three children.
Professor Hawking is a Dugma Chai/Living Example of human will overcoming adversity. Armed only with his brain and a mechanical voice, he has ascended and remained at the top of his field as a physicist where he challenges the greatest mysteries to reveal themselves.
The Talmud-Book of Law relates the story of Rebbe Chiah who wanted to enter the heavenly abode of Rebbe Shimon, author of the Zohar-Book of Secret; he was met with a forbidding heavenly voice announcing: No one enters this way but those who have turned bitter into sweet.
The bitterness of life promotes a higher light than is possible through normal means because the source of the hidden blessing is the essence of light, as explained in the Cabala. Essence hides in the darkness, never revealed – turning darkness into light reveals essence.
In the Torah, seventy years is considered to be a complete lifetime; after seventy years, old age begins – life begins to wind down. More than all the valuable information he has brought to the world is the example of a man overcoming adversity to be top in his field.

Mr. Hawking has been back & forth w/ his belief in a 'Creator'; I'm not sure where he stands on the matter these days. But, I guess he'll find out soon enough.
