A Commercial Peace Venture

An Israeli cell phone commercial showing soldiers playing football near Israel's West Bank separation barrier has angered Palestinians who say it is in poor taste and exploits their suffering.

The Cabala discerns life in four categories: the inanimate, like rocks and basic elements; the growing of plants and trees; the living creatures; and lastly the speaker. It is in speech that our species is separated from the common animal; the ability to articulate thoughts into speech is unique to the human being.

War, particularly war for freedom always finds ways to deplore that freedom when it does not serve their interests; it is the politics of war that remains a stain polluting the future. When incitement is seen everywhere by the leaders under siege is signal of instability and fear.

The commercial seems innocuous; a commercial invitation to the neighbors on the other side of the wall. The Torah prophecies that in the end the people of Israel will live without wall because they will no longer fear their neighbors.
