A Divided Jerusalem

The Israel Policy Forum is “greatly concerned” by Israeli plans to build a new Jewish housing development in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The mission of Israel Policy Forum is to promote active U.S. engagement to achieve a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Tonight, the first day of the month Av, begins the the nine days of mourning for the two Temples destroyed on the Ninth of Av 2000 and 2500 years ago.

Dovid first king of Israel purchased this land for the Temple which his son Shlomo built and 410 years later was destroyed by Nebuchadnezza King of Babylon who exiled the Jewish People to Persia. Cyrus king of Persia allowed the Jewish People to return 70 years later to build the Second Temple which lasted for 420 years until destroyed by Rome. Six hundred years later the Arab Muslims build the Dome of the Rock to restore the Temple as a way to honor the prophets Dovid and Shlomo who built the First Temple.

After WWI the allies set up political states which allow the west to govern the flow of oil from the Middle East. Israel was partitioined as was Jerusalem–divide and conquer. Jerusalem is the epitome of Oneness–connecting heaven and earth.

Its says in the Torah that in the end when the Third Temple descends from the heavens that entire city of Jerusalem will be likened to the Temple–gateway to the heavens; Israel will be liken to Jerusalem–a light unto the nations and the world will be liken to Israel–full of light and peace.
