Sustained changes in the region of the brain associated with cognitive function and emotional control were found in young adult men after one week of playing violent video games.
The Cabala explains, the power of sight derives from the soul's ability to be in awe of the Creator – the first cognition of creation; like the look of awe on the face of a newborn baby, Awe is the highest level of Riha/Fear whose letter can be reversed to read Riah/Sight.
More than any other ability of the body, the power of sight links directly to the soul, explaining the compulsion to look into another's eyes when engaged. No wonder watching violence negatively influences the brain; pornography is the other eye candy for the masses.
Hurting the body is temporal because the body will heal then eventually die, but hurting the soul has an eternal affect. The soul is large like a sun connected to the body through a thin line of attenuated light conveyed a long distance, delivering life to the body.
Sight is connected to that lowest level of soul that enters into the body through the right side of the brain from where inspiration stems. The Cabala call this function Chachma/Power of What, the power to question – after fear comes sight then comes questions.
