Professor Richard Leakey predicts skepticism over evolution will soon be history, the avowed atheist says, Extinction is always driven by environmental change; I think we have to recognize that the future is by no means a very rosy one.
The pessimism of atheism stems from a view of creation based on an infinite universe that, given enough time, will spontaneously create something; given infinite time anything is possible and demise is inevitable. The Torah is adamant, Creation is a finite production of the Creator.
In a finite creation, like a book with a beginning middle and end, a story is being told regarding the relationship between Creator and creation; the story does not end with a bang or a whimper but with conclusion that brings together the major protagonists – God and man.
In order to maintain freedom of choice, both opinions lack conclusive proof yet both have compelling evidence. Science has bones dating back millions of years while Torah has inscrutable knowledge portending different conclusions – the infinite and the finite are the two sides of free choice.
The basis of free choice derives from our view of God – only God who is infinite can create a confine; every confine has a unique structure, like a snowflake. Within the geometry of creation can be deduced the story written by the Creator being acted out by creation.

THE CABALA OF BOB
President Obama pinned the Presidential Medal of Freedom around Bob Dylan's neck as the singer stood in the White House inscrutable in black sunglasses.
I first met Bob in the Navy; the sailors I served with insisted in listening to what they called: shit-kicking music, a nasal twangy sound from the deep south and then all of a sudden a new sound hit the radio – I was stunned, the announcer introduced the new artist, Bob Dylan.
You can’t even understand anything that guy says, said the sailors; I don’t know what he’s saying, I agreed, but he’s saying it. I am a few years younger than Bob, he has been my big brother throughout my life – like God, Bob was always there, singing to my soul, when I needed him.
Forever stoic, Bob is an enigma to his fans, a man who guards his feelings while portraying in his words and melodies the soul of the world. Bob does not just sing about freedom, Bob is free – what more appropriate an honor to give this extraordinary figure than the Medal of Freedom.

A recently discovered asteroid passed surprisingly close to the earth yesterday; a very near miss in the cosmic scheme of things, ranking in the list of the 10 closest asteroid passes ever recorded – the 3 m wide asteroid is the sixth closest near miss ever.

In response to US ire and a pledge to assist a Pakistani doctor charged with treason for helping the US capture Osama bin Laden, the Pakistani foreign ministry called on the US to respect its legal process.

In a divisive decision a few years ago, the Supreme Court sanctioned the use of outside money to decide local elections, overturning decades of precedent. In the ongoing fight to make ideology more important than governance, the people’s institutions have been the big losers.
An ideology can not be completely correct because times change and new situations require different solutions. America was founded on a coalition of ideas vying for dominance according to the reality of the moment – eventually this process was distilled down into Democrat and Republican.
The Democrats represented the demographics while the Republican’s view is of the republic. The shifting historical times brought different segments to power when needed. There is a Torah term for this process called ZeVZe Divre Elohim Chaim/Both are words of God.
This somewhat clumsy process has been replaced with the more expedient divide and conquer – resulting in the loss of, One person one vote. According to the Cabala, intentions are more important than action – the intention of these outside groups are to breed contempt amid the populous.

One in 30 baby boomers may be infected with hepatitis C virus; more than 2 million baby boomers may develop life-threatening liver disease; the announcement coincides with the first-ever National Hepatitis Testing Day today.
The Baby Boomer Generation is by far the greediest of all generations – devouring the past inheritance, the present situation and the future of possibilities for their children. Its not their livers that need testing but their hearts – these Baby Boomers had no compassion on the world.
True, in their formative years, because of the nuclear arms race, not many thought they would live to see 30, but that is not an excuse to act out their fears for their remaining years. People viewing famine, once removed, often satiate themselves with gluttony in response.
Parents are suppose to be good examples to their children, but the Baby Boomers, now ready to retire, are only a burden on society. Life is a privilege given by God, not a right manifested by science; compassion, is to keep people out of pain not extend life at any cost.

THE CABALA OF STUPID
A study on rats suggests that eating a high fructose diet makes you stupid; the average American consumes more than 40 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup per year – some scientists think sugar should be taxed as are alcohol and tobacco products.
The Ari/Lion, who fathered the Cabala 500 years ago, noted – The Torah begins with the letter Bet/2 indicating this world is one of Gevorah/Severity as opposed to the previous world, which was one of Chesed/Kindness. Life is difficult on this world as everyone knows.
Sugar is a way to hide the truth, making everything appear sweeter; hiding the truth is what makes people stupid – after awhile people become addicted and no longer want to hear the truth. It behooves those in power to hide the truth in order to retain their position.
Companies who sell inferior foods rely upon sugar to disguise the truth; poor people are most vulnerable because they rely upon cheap foods – all infused with sugar. After stupidity comes obesity and sickness – the people are but fodder for food industries to health industries.
Taxing food with added sugars would help stem this epidemic; a good idea with little chance of passing in government who subsides farmers and doctors; the initiative needs to come from the people. The Talmud-Book of Law teaches, Those who seek the truth find the truth.

Sugar is a way to hide the truth, making everything appear sweeter; hiding the truth is what makes people stupid – after awhile people become addicted and no longer want to hear the truth. It behooves those in power to hide the truth in order to retain their position.
Companies who sell inferior foods rely upon sugar to disguise the truth; poor people are most vulnerable because they rely upon cheap foods – all infused with sugar. After stupidity comes obesity and sickness – the people are but fodder for food industries to health industries.
Taxing food with added sugars would help stem this epidemic; a good idea with little chance of passing in government who subsides farmers and doctors; the initiative needs to come from the people. The Talmud-Book of Law teaches, Those who seek the truth find the truth.

THE CABALA OF WASTE
The World Wildlife Foundation International said, We are using 50 percent more resources than the Earth can provide, and unless we change course that number will grow very fast; by 2030, even two planets will not be enough to satiate the world’s appetite.

The former general of the Allied Forces during World War Two foresaw a time when the military would overshadow the legitimate needs of the people, but the prophets of war will only stop when war is no longer profitable. World War Two was the last war of necessity.
The Talmud-Book of Law predicts, Give Germany his will and he will destroy the world. President Kennedy made the Peace Corp to make war on poverty but the war mongers killed him. In this technological time brute strength no longer has sway; instead, cyber war is forecasted.

Lag BaOmer is a Jewish holiday celebrated on the thirty-third day of the Counting of the Omer, which occurs on the 18th day of Iyar; one reason given for the holiday is as the day of passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai author of the Zohar.
Rabbi Shimon commanded his students at his passing, They should celebrate on this day because he is returning back to the light from where his soul was hewn. Referred to as Kardinisa/Hard, Rabbi Shimon was on the level of the Hard Light that broke to form creation.
The Zohar/Brilliance is the seminal work produced 2000 years ago by Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai that remained uninterpretable until 1500 years later when the Ari/Lion gave us the Cabala – key to the Zohar. Rabbi Shimon passed away beginning the thousand years of Hod/Retreat.
The Cabala began with the thousand years of Sod/Secret; this Lag BaOmer is 772 years into this last thousand year period ending the Hebrew calendar at 6000. According to the Cabala, Each of the Six Days of Creation are prototype to a thousand years culminating with rest.

THE CABALA OF FAT
America's obesity epidemic is so deeply rooted that it will take dramatic and systemic measures - from overhauling farm policies and zoning laws to, possibly, introducing a soda tax - to fix it, the influential Institute of Medicine said today.

France—and, along with it, Europe and possibly the global economy are about to enter a new and uncertain era; Socialist François Hollande has defeated French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

This self-righteous attitude has ignited opposition from Muslims and Communists giving the West a reason to wage war. What is needed is a strong center reigning in extremes. The design of creation is set upon three pillars: the right, center and left, called Tikun/Fixing.

The full moon of tonight is called Supermoon — hitting its peak one minute after the moon makes its closest approach to Earth accompanied by a meteor shower from Halley's Comet that's peaking as well, adding to the sky show.
The Torah describes, In the beginning of creation there were two equal lights, the Moon and the Sun; the moon complained saying, There can only be one king – so God suggested to the moon to make herself smaller and therefore was given the stars to appease her.
The Moon was complaining about the ego of the Sun; God’s advice was to become small and let the ego burn itself out. The stars that adorn the Moon are a much greater light than the Sun and the sway of the moon over the earth is more subtle in her ways.
With all the moons and planets in our solar system, only earth’s moon precisely covers the sun during an eclipse. In the future, according to the Midrash-Book of Metaphor, the moon will shine like the sun and the sun with be seven times brighter – more light in the world.

THE CABALA OF FOOTBALL
NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead at his home; Seau chose to shoot himself in the chest, as have several NFL players who recently killed themselves in a similar fashion; new studies appear to connect football-related concussions to suicidal behavior.
Although suicide is forbidden in the Torah, there are heroic instances like the community in Masada, Israel 2000 years ago when the people preferred to death to being captured and enslaved by the Roman army. People die to be free because freedom is more important than life.
Football, in a strange way, exemplifies freedom – commentators always describe a player as getting free; perhaps our fascination with the game stems from a deep rooted desire within each person to be free – to be able to take the hit and keep running, never stop or give up.
The Talmud-Book of Law tells a story about a laundryman who heard a voice from heaven saying, Whoever goes to the funeral of Rebbe Yehuda (who was the first to commit the Oral Torah into writing) gets Olam Haba/The Next World – the ultimate reward for living a good life.
The man got involved in his laundry and forgot to go; he was so despondent, he threw himself from the roof and died – another voice from heaven said, He also gets Olam Haba. When hearing of a person’s death it is the custom to say, Barauch Dian HaEmet/God is the True Judge.

THE CABALA OF CAIN
The body of Otzi the Iceman, a 5,300-year-old mummy found in the Alps in 1991 was so well preserved that scientists could estimate his probable cause of death, an arrow wound to the shoulder that sliced an artery.
The Hebrew year, 5772, dates back to the first human, an androgynous being who gave birth to two sons – Cain and Hevel; each was born with a female for the purpose of reproduction, but Hevel had two, bringing about the indignant wrath of his brother, who he eventual kills him.
Cain is sent away for killing his brother, to wander in the Wilderness, kept alive by a sign placed upon his forehead, to live for seven generations; Lemech, 120 years later, takes his son with him to go hunting – his son says, There goes an animal and Lemach shots killing Cain.
Hearing he has killed his grandfather, he claps his hands together in anguish and unintentionally kills also his son. As a result God makes Lemech the Angel of Death. Death and violence was a rare occurrence during the first 1000 years since the creation of the Adom.
At that point Adom and Chava have another child, Shet who is the progenitor of modern man leading to Noah who marries Nima the daughter of Lemach thus saving the DNA from the both brothers who eventually reincarnate throughout history trying to irradiate violence in the world.

THE CABALA OF MAY DAY
On the front lines of the world's May Day protests this year, along with the traditional chants, banners and marches, a gamut of emotions flowed through the crowds: venting over spending cuts, tax hikes and unemployment.
International Worker’s Day, the tradition day set aside for worker’s rights is celebrated throughout the world, but this year was hardly a celebration because workers have become slaves to their jobs. When work is only about money, then slavery ensues and freedom is lost.
America, since the time of Ronald Wilson Reagan (the 666), has redefined freedom as: the right to make money; this narrow interpretation focuses only on the physical – giving no room to the spiritual aspect of work. In ancient societies spiritual endeavor was called: work.
In Hebrew, the word Avodah/Work is one of the three pillars upon which worlds stands: Torah/Teaching; Adovah/Work and Chesed/Kindness. A world standing only on money has little chance to survive. Rich people suck, has been replaced by, Poor people swallow.

THE CABALA OF WIND
New research finds that wind farms actually warm up the surface of the land underneath them during the night, a phenomenon that could put a damper on efforts to expand wind energy as a green energy solution.
The Midrash-Book of Metaphor teaches, The world needs the Jewish People like the the earth requires wind. The Midrash also teaches, The Jewish Soul was one of seven things that preceded creation – the purpose of this soul was to receive the Torah and do the 613 Commandments.
