THE CABALA OF NOTHING

Our universe could have popped into existence 13.7 billion years ago without any divine help whatsoever, researchers say; that may run counter to our instincts, which recoil at the thought of something coming from nothing.

In Cabala, this idea is called Yis MeAiyin/Something from Nothing; the letters in the word Aiyin can be rearranged to read Ani/I – meaning God. The reason why God is called Aiyin/Nothing is because God is nothing of Heaven or Earth; God is neither physical nor spiritual.

Between God and creation is OreAinSof/LightWithoutEnd – meaning light that is also neither physical nor spiritual; the Cabala explains creation in Ten Sefirot/Luminaries – the light prior to creation has infinite Sefirot/Luminaries. Creation can only comprehend ten of infinity.

Yet, because God is Aiyin/Nothing therefore God can be everywhere all the time to everyone. Only God can bring something out of nothing – the Creator of everything. God spoke the world into existence in the same way a thought spurned by a will eventually is revealed in the spoken word.

Science lacking any spiritual acuity can only muse about infinite universes giving rise without reason to more of the same; the Torah sees in creation the thumbprint of the Creator in the configuration of creation. The greatest light comes out of the deepest darkness, nothing.
